Energy Server - Technology

System Architecture

The Multiple Source DC Combiner Module accepts up to 4 independent power generation sources from DC input sources including PV solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, AC input sources including grid, gensets, integrates the energy being delivered, and supplies DC output to the Energy Server’s inverter. An additional 16 sources can be added by adding additional modules in the chassis. The DC output to the inverter can be blended or sequential based on a programmed, user defined operational policy, with seamless switching between the various input sources.

The anti-islanding isolator ensures that the Energy Server is safe to operate in the instance of a grid failure.

The Multiple Source AC Combiner Module accepts up to 4 AC generation sources at any one time, integrates the energy being delivered and supplies synchronized AC output. The grid-tied module also has bi-directional functionality, i.e. the Energy Server can be programmed to feed AC power to the grid according to a user-defined policy.

The Battery Charging and Balancing Module accepts a variety of battery chemistries that includes Lead Acid, AGM, Gel, Flooded, Lithium Ion and supercapacitor. The batteries can be integrated into the system as required enabling complete flexibility in choice of battery technology. The battery charging module includes Kilowatt Labs’ proprietary charging technique that increases the capacity of selected batteries and eliminates the limitation of DOD.

The Battery Balancing function of the module monitors and balances connected battery banks at the cell level, thereby preventing any risk of damage.


Communication Module

The Energy Server interfaces with all leading communication protocols including MODBUS, CANBUS, PROFIBUS, Ethernet, RS232 ad RS485 8 – 16 PROGRAMMABLE DRY CONTACTS.

Automation and Control Module

The Energy Server Automation and Control Module provides the user with the ability to program operational policies. The Server’s module interfaces with leading automation controllers such as SCADA.


Multiple micro-controllers running on programmed algorithms control and drive each operation of the Server.

…thus eliminating the need for time-consuming and risky integration with third-party systems.

The Energy Server has a built-in automatic, air-conditioning unit keeping the unit internally cooled.
